Full Service Schools An exciting new initiative at the TDSB is looking at how we use the space in our schools to fully support students, families and the community. I have the privilege of serving on the Steering Committee of this initiative, which is called the Full Service School Task Force. As we explore the idea of re-purposing our unused school space (instead of closing it)...

It is common practice for TDSB Trustees to attend Ward Council meetings in order to share information and talk to parent representatives from local schools. The Ward 15 Parent Council holds monthly meetings that begin at 7:00 p.m. and are held at different schools in the Ward. The Ward Council meetings include a Trustee update, an update by School Superintendent Jill Worthy, an update from the TDSB Parent Involvement Advisory Committee, periodic reports from the TDSB French as a Second Language Advisory Committee and discussions about student, parent and school issues. Each school sends a parent representative, but the meeting is open to anyone.
This spring, I will be visiting each school council to discuss the idea of full service schools and how parents would like to see school buildings serve the community. Below are the scheuldes for both the Ward Council and my visits to the school councils in Ward 15.

School Council Visits (Tentative)
Schools are listed in alphabetical order with the date that I will attend beside the school name. There are some dates when I have to attend many in one evening. In those cases I have indicated whether the school will be the first or second (and in a few cases, third) stop for me. I don't expect the discussion to take more than half an hour. If you do not see your school on this list, it is because I am still trying to work out a good date with the Principal and school council chairs.

When I was elected, I introduced parent information forums which covered
subjects such as learning disabilities, bullying, homework, and children's
mental health. Three of our Ward Council meetings have been dedicated to
these sessions. The Ward Council and I will continue to offer these information
sessions each school year.
